Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 17 malignant pleural mesothelioma patients who had previously been treated with pemetrexed and platinum-based chemotherapy. The median patient age was 58 years and 15 were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agents gemcitabine and vinorelbine.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included leucopenia and neutropenia. Grade 3 phlebitis (blood vein inflammation) and constipation were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 11.2 months.
