Description:

Patients:
This phase II study involved 80 women with pretreated metastatic breast cancer. The median age was 54.0 years.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agent eribulin.

Toxicities:
There was one treatment-related death due to disease progression and infection. Grade 3/4 neutropenia (95.1% of patients) and leukopenia (74.1%) were also reported. In addition, 58% of patients experienced alopecia and 39.5% had stomatitis (inflamed lining of the intestinal tract).

Results:
The reported median overall survival was 11.1 months.
