Description:

Patients: This phase 2 study involved 25 patients with metastatic kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma). There were 13 men and 12 women, with a median age of 60 years. These patients ranged in age from 50 to 80 years old. Most (84%) had previously been treated with surgery.

Treatment: Patients were treated with the chemotherapy drugs capecitabine and docetaxel.

Toxicity: Grade 4 anemia occurred in one patient. Grade 3 toxicities were reported in 10 of the patients, and included dehydration and diarrhea.

Results: The median overall survival was 11.1 months.
