Description:

Patients: This Phase II study involved 31 patients with metastatic ovarian cancer. The median age was 60 years. Nineteen women had stage IIIc ovarian cancer, and twelve had stage IV. All had received carboplatin and paclitaxel as first-line chemotherapy prior to treatment, and eight had tumors that resisted treatment with platinum compounds. Patients who were previously treated with paclitaxel were included in this study.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of two chemotherapeutic drugs: docetaxel and irinotecan.

Toxicity: One patient that had febrile neutropenia developed sepsis and died. Grade 3-4 toxicities included neutropenia (including with fever), thrombocytopenia, diarrhea, and anemia.

Results: The median survival rate was 11 months.
