Description:

Patients:
This study involved 155 melanoma patients who have received prior treatment. The median patient age was 59 years and 52% were male.

Treatment:
Patients in this study were treated with the biologic therapy agent ipilimumab, which is a monoclonal antibody that blocks a protein called CTLA-4 and helps the immune system target cancer cells.

Toxicities:
One treatment-related death due to liver failure was reported in this study (toxicity grade 5). Otherwise, the majority of adverse events were immune-related reactions on the skin and in the gastrointestinal tract.

Results:
The median overall survival for this study was 10.2 months.
