Description:

Patients: This phase 2 study involved twenty-six patients with glioblastoma multiforme. Their median age was 55, ranging from 30 to 75.

Treatment: Patients were treated with the chemotherapy drugs thalidomide and irinotecan.

Toxicity: Grade 4 neutropenia and pulmonary embolism were each reported in one patient. Grade 3 toxicities included neutropenia, nausea, constipation, deep vein thrombosis, seizures, hyperglycemia, pain and neurologic deterioration.

Results: The median overall survival was 10.2 months.
