Description:

Patients: This Phase I study involved a total of 37 patients with unresectable (inoperable) hepatocellular carcinoma. There were 28 men and 9 women and the average was 52.5 years.

Treatment: Treatment consisted of anti-HCC monoclonal antibody (131 I-Hepama-1 mAb) a radiolabeled monoclonal antibody.

Toxicity: Toxicity was not graded, but side effects included poor appetite, abdominal distention, abdominal pain, liver tenderness, jaundice, and hematologic toxicity.

Results: The median survival was 10 months for the 18 patients who had no evidence of metastases.
