Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 41 metastatic colorectal cancer patients who had been previously treated with fluoropyrimidine, oxaliplatin and irinotecan. The median patient age was 62 years and 19 were male.

Treatment:
Patients received chemotherapy with gemcitabine and uracil–tegafur.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicity was grade 4 thrombocytopenia. Grade 3 neutropenia and grade 2 skin rash and abdominal pain were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 9.2 months.
