Description:

Patients:
This phase II study involved 42 recurrent malignant glioblastoma patients. The median patient age was 55 years and 25 were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the biologic therapy agent aflibercept, which inhibits the effects of specific proteins that promote tumor growth.

Toxicities:
The maximum toxicities were of grade 4 and included hand-foot skin reaction and low oxygen supply in the brain (CNS ischemia). Fatigue, blood clots, and wound healing complications were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 9.0 months.
