Description:

Patients: This Phase II study involved 52 patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (26 with adenocarcinoma). Twenty-seven patients were men, and twenty-five were women. The median age was 63.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of one chemotherapeutic agent: Karenitecin.

Toxicity: Grade 3-4 toxicities included neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, leukopenia, diarrhea, nausea, fatigue, and bleeding.

Results: The median overall survival was 8.6 months; patients with relapsed disease had a median survival of 10.4 months, and patients with refractory disease had a median survival of 6.0 months.
