Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 30 advanced malignant pleural mesothelioma patients. The median patient age was 64 years and 27 were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the biologic therapy agent called BNC105P, which is an inhibitor of tubulin polymerization that disrupts tumor blood supply and inhibits cancer cell growth.

Toxicities:
There were two treatment-related deaths due to pneumonia and cardiorespiratory failure. Grade 4 blood clots and grade 3 fatigue were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 8.2 months.
