Description:

Patients:
This study involved 22 metastatic melanoma patients with a median age of 56 years; 50% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agents carboplatin and vinorelbine in addition to the immune therapy agent interleukin-2 (IL-2), which strengthens the immune response.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Grade 3-4 fatigue, constipation, and infection were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 7.2 months.
