Description:

Patients:
This phase III study involved 253 patients with a type of bladder cancer called transitional cell carcinoma of the urothelial tract. Patients had received prior platinum-containing chemotherapy. The median patient age was not given, but 46.6% of the patients were at least 65 years old.

Treatment:
Patients in this study were treated with the chemotherapy agent vinflunine.

Toxicities:
There was one treatment-related death due to pancytopenia (decrease in both red and white blood cells). Grade 3-4 neutropenia, fatigue, anemia, and constipation were also reported.

Results:
The reported median overall survival was 6.9 months.
