Description:

Patients: This Phase III study involved a total of 254 patients. Patients were divided into two groups: Group A had 129 patients and Group B had 125 patients. The median age for patients in Group A was 61 and there were 120 men and 9 were women. Most patients had stage IV cancer. For Group B, the median age was 62 and there 155 men and 20 women. Most patients had stage IV cancer.

Treatment: The treatment for patients in Group A consisted of one chemotherapeutic drug -- docetaxel.

Toxicity: Grade 3-4 toxicities included: asthenia, mucositis, diarrhea, neurotoxicity, anorexia, fever, hyperglycemia, dyspnea, pain, and hepatic.

Results: The median survival for Group A was 6.6 months.
