Description:

Patients:
This study involved 15 patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma with a median patient age of 60 years and 93.3% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agent darinaparsin, which stops cancer cells from replicating.

Toxicity:
The maximum level of reported toxicity was grade 4, which was 1 case of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Also reported was 1 case of grade 3 anorexia, as well as grade 1-2 nausea and vomiting.

Results:
The reported median progression-free and overall survival was 1.8 and 6.2 months, respectively.
