Description:

Patients: This Phase II study involved 126 patients with relapsed glioblastoma multiforme. (There were 12 other patients with different cancer types.)

Treatment: The treatment consisted of the chemotherapy drug, temozolomide (temodar).

Toxicity: Toxicities included grade 1-4 hematologic, asthenia, fatigue, fever, headache, confusion, convulsions, hemiparesis, paresis, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, and pulmonary infection.

Results: The median overall survival was 5.4 months.

Support: This study was supported in part by grants from Schering-Plough research institute. Schering-Plough manufactures temozolomide (temodar).
