Description:

Patients: Fourteen patients with newly diagnosed gliomas were involved in this study. Nine patients had glioblastoma multiforme and five patients had anaplastic astrocytoma.

Treatment: Treatment consisted of a chemotherapy drug, carboplatin (paraplatin) in combination with radiotherapy.

Toxicity: Toxicities included nausea (grade 2-3), fatigue, hearing loss, and alopecia.

Results: Median survival for the glioblastoma patients was 21 weeks (4.9 months).
