Description:

Patients:
This phase II study involved 51 patients with malignant mesothelioma. The median patient age was 64 years and 84% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the biologic therapy agent cediranib, which is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor of VEGF receptors and interferes with maintaining the blood supply to tumors.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included fatigue and blood clotting. Grade 3 diarrhea was also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 4.4 months.
