Description:

Patients: Seventeen patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme were enrolled in this Phase II study.

Treatment: Treatment consisted of 9-Nitro-camptothecin (RFS2000), a new oral topoisomerase I inhibitor (a type of chemotherapy).

Toxicity: Grade 3-4 toxicity was reported in 5 patients. Febrile neutropenia that required hospitalization occurred for 3 patients. Other toxicities included: diarrhea, fatigue, nausea and vomiting, arthralgia and myalgia, stomatitis, urinary infection.

Results: Among the 15 eligible patients, no objective responses were observed. The median time to progression (return/regrowth of the tumor) was 44 days. Median survival was not presented.
