Description:

Patients: This phase II study involved 36 women with advanced ovarian cancer. The median age was 57.

Treatment: The treatment involved one biological agent - an antisense oligonucleotide inhibitor of protein kinase C alpha called aprinocarsen.

Toxicity: Grade 4 toxicities included nausea and throbocytopenia.

Results: There were no responses seen on scans, but one patient had a decline in serum CA 125 levels.

Support: Support was provided by ISIS pharmaceuticals. ISIS manufactures or markets aprinocarsen.
