Description:

Patients: This Phase II study involved a total of 16 patients. Twelve patients had glioblastoma multiforme and 4 patients had anaplastic astrocytoma. All patients were previously treated with radiation therapy following surgery.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of the administration of didemnin B. Didemnin B is a natural product derived from a marine invertebrate (Caribbean Tunicate).

Toxicity: Toxicities included grade 4 skin (ulcerating dermatitis), and grade 1 and/or 2 proteinuria, increased LFT’s, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, nasea/vomiting, stomatitis, and blood count changes.

Results: There were no responses. Overall survival was not discussed.
