Description:

Patients:
This study involved 48 metastatic colorectal cancer patients. The median age of the group was 56 years (range of 24-70) and 52% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were given two chemotherapy agents, oxaliplatin and S-1, which blocks DNA synthesis and cancer cell division (growth).

Toxicities:
The highest toxicity level reported was of grade 4 and consisted of one case of thrombocytopenia. Grade 3 neutropenia and anemia was also reported. Grade 1 or 2 anorexia was reported by 41 patients, and grade 1 or 2 nausea was reported by 35.

Results:
The reported overall survival was 27.2 months.
