Description:

Patients:
This study involved 42 women with metastatic breast cancer who had been previously treated with anthracycline drugs. The median age of the group was 48 years.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with a combination of 2 chemotherapy agents, docetaxel and gemcitabine.

Toxicities:
The most severe adverse effect reported was one case of grade 4 neutropenia. Other reported effects were rash (2 cases of grade 3), mucositis (inflammation of mucous membranes lining the digestive tract; 5 cases of grade 2), and vomiting (1 case of grade 3).

Results:
The median overall survival was 27 months.
