Description:

Patients: This study involved 61 women with metastatic breast cancer. The median age was 54.3 years. All patients had received previous anthracycline chemotherapy and all except one had received previous surgery.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of three chemotherapy drugs – paclitaxel, vinorelbine, and 5-florouracil.

Toxicities: There was one grade 4 toxicity – leucopenia. Other toxicities included: grade 1-3 amenia, alopecia, mucosistis, and skin; grade 1 and 3 cardiac toxicity; and grade 3 hepatic toxicity. One patient died of sudden death, though it was not noted whether the episode was related to the treatment.

Results: The median overall survival was 27.3 months.
