Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 35 locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer patients who had not received prior treatment. The average patient age was 59.9 years and 51.6% were male.

Treatment:
Patients received chemotherapy with cisplatin and vinorelbine, radiation therapy, and nitroglycerin, a biologic therapy agent that inhibits production of proteins that support tumor growth.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included grade 3-4 neutropenia, nausea/vomiting, and esophagitis. Grade 2 headache was also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 26.9 months.
