Description:

Patients: This Phase II study involved 28 patients with metastatic colorectal cancer with inoperable liver metastases. Seventeen patients were men, and eleven were women. The median age was 60.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of three chemotherapy drugs: Oxaliplatin, fluorouracil, and leucovorin.

Toxicity: Grade 3-4 toxicities included neutropenia, leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, and diarrhea. Other toxicities included nausea/vomiting, infection, neurotoxicity, and mucositis.

Results: The median overall survival was 27 months.

Support: Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals finally supported this study, and three authors previously received honoraria. Sanofi-Aventis manufactures and markets oxaliplatin.
