Description:

Patients: This study involved 34 patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer. The majority (32) were men. The median age was 61.4 years, ranging from 45 to 75.

Treatment: Patients were treated with radiation therapy and the chemotherapy drugs cisplatin and docetaxel.

Toxicity: Grade 3/4 leucopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and esophagitis were each reported in less than 25% of patients. Grade 3/4 radiation pnuemonitis was reported in four patients. Other, less severe toxicities included nausea, vomiting, anorexia and anemia.

Results: The median overall survival was 26.4 months.
