Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 61 metastatic colorectal cancer patients with a median age of 63.6 years; 57% were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy regimen termed FOLFIRI-3 (irinotecan, leucovorin, and 5-fluorouracil), the biologic therapy agent bevacizumab, and the chemotherapy agent capecitabine.

Toxicities:
There was one treatment-related death due to colitis and sepsis. Grade 3-4 diarrhea, neutropenia, and infection were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 24.5 months.
