Description:

Patients: This study involved 54 patients with unresectable locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Their median age was 58, ranging from 38 to 76 years.

Treatment: Patients were treated with the chemotherapy drugs cisplatin and docetaxel and radiation therapy. About two-thirds of the patients also had surgery.

Toxicity: Grade 3 neutropenia, nausea/vomiting, and esophagitis were reported (in less than 15% of patients). Grade 1 and 2 toxicities included hepatic (liver) toxicity, neuropathy, infection, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, nausea/vomiting and esophagitis.

Results: The median overall survival was 22 months.
