Description:

Patients: This phase II study involved 41 women with ovarian or peritoneal cancer. The majority (88%) had stage III/IV ovarian cancer. The median age was 62, ranging from 42 to 82 years of age.

Treatment: Patients were treated with the chemotherapy drug topotecan.

Toxicities: Grade 4 neutropenia was reported in one patient. Grade 3 thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, and anemia were reported. Grade 3 or 4 fatigue and dyspnea were also reported.

Results: The median overall survival was 21.2 months.
