Description:

Patients: This phase 2 study involved 28 patients with metastatic, hormone-refractory prostate cancer. Most had received chemotherapy previously. The median age was 74.5, ranging from 54 to 91 years of age.

Treatment: Patients were treated with a combination of biological therapy and chemotherapy: cyclophosphamide, celecoxib, and dexamethasone

Toxicity: No grade 3 or 4 toxicities were reported. There was one report each of grade 2 neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and anorexia. There were three reports of grade 2 anemia and four reports of grade 2 asthenia.

Results: The median overall survival was 21 months.
