Description:

Patients: This Phase II study involved 271 treated patients with metastatic breast cancer. Patients were divided into two groups – Group AT was comprised of 136 patients; Group AC was comprised of 135 patients.

Treatment: Group AT patients were treated with two drugs – doxorubicin (adriamycin) and paclitaxel (taxol).

Toxicity: Toxicity in the AT group included neutropenia (grade 4), and grade 3-4 infection, thrombocytopenia, nausea/vomiting, stomatitis, arthralgia/myalgia, sensory neurotoxicity, CHF, and LVEF.

Results: The median survival for the “AT patients” was 20.6 months.
