Description:

Patients: This Phase II study involved 49 women with metastatic breast cancer. The median age was 55 and the majority of patients had undergone previous radiotherapy (65%) or chemotherapy (51%).

Treatment: The treatment consisted of two chemotherapy drugs – vinorelbine (alternating oral and intravenous) and epirubicin.

Toxicity: Grade 3-4 toxicities included neutropenia, leucopenia, anemia, thrombocytopenia, infection, nausea, vomiting, stomatitis, fatigue, and arthralgia.

Results: The median overall survival for the 44 evaluable patients was 20 months.
