Description:

Patients:
This study involved 21 malignant pleural mesothelioma patients. The median patient age was 63 years and 76.2% were male.

Treatment:
Patients received the chemotherapy agents methotrexate and gemcitabine.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were grade 4 unspecified hematologic adverse effects (i.e. changes in numbers of blood cell types). Grade 2 nausea, vomiting, and anorexia were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 19.4 months.
