Description:

Patients: This study involved 53 patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. The majority (39) were men. The median age was 66, ranging from 42 to 80 years of age.

Treatment: Patients were treated with the chemotherapy drugs capecitabine and irinotecan every two weeks.

Toxicity: Grade 4 neutropenia was reported in one patient. There were not any other grade 4 toxicities. Grade 3 toxicities were reported in 15% or fewer patients, and included neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, alopecia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and asthenia.

Results: The median overall survival was 19.2 months.
