Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 19 female metastatic breast cancer patients who had received prior anthracycline-based chemotherapy. The median patient age was 54 years.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the chemotherapy agent docetaxel and the biologic therapy agent called TSU-68, which is a multiple tyrosine kinase inhibitor that interferes with cancer cell growth.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included neutropenia and leukopenia. Grade 2 alopecia was reported by 63.2% of patients.

Results:
The median overall survival was 19 months.
