Description:

Patients: This Phase II trial involved 155 patients with metastatic breast cancer.

Treatment: The treatment involved administration of three drugs – paclitaxel (taxol) 5-fluorouracil (adrucil), and leucovorin. (The drugs were administered on two different schedules to the patients.)

Toxicity: Sepsis occurred in two patients, with one of these patients having a septic death that was likely treatment related. Other toxicities included grade 3-4 hematological toxicity, neuropathy, diarrhea, and asthenia.

Results: The median overall survival for all patients was 18.4 months.
