Description:

Patients:
This phase 3 study involved 199 metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer patients who had received prior platinum-based chemotherapy. All patients were 75 years of age or older.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the biologic therapy agent called enzalutamide (an androgen receptor inhibitor that interferes with cancer cell growth).

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included grade 3-4 fatigue, back pain, and anemia.

Results:
The median overall survival was 18.2 months.
