Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 30 elderly relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma patients who were previously treated. The median patient age was 76 years (range of 69-88 years) and 47% were male.

Treatment:
Patients received chemotherapy with vorinostat, cyclophosphamide and etoposide, biologic therapy with rituximab, and the steroid hormone prednisone.

Toxicities:
There was one death on study due to brain hemorrhage. Grade 4 neutropenia and infection, and grade 3 fatigue were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 17.5 months.
