Description:

Patients:
This study involved 17 malignant glioma patients with an average age of 44.7 years; 8 were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with an autologous dendritic cell tumor vaccine, which is an immunotherapy agent. For this treatment, immune cells (dendritic cells) are removed from a patient’s blood sample, treated in a laboratory, and then injected back into the patient in order to cause an anti-tumor immune response.

Toxicities:
Grade 4 lymphopenia was the most severe reported adverse event. Liver toxicity was also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 17.1 months.
