Description:

Patients:
This phase II study involved 40 women with platinum-resistant ovarian and primary peritoneal carcinoma. The median patient age was 59 years.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with the biologic therapy agent flavopiridol (a serine/threonine kinase inhibitor that targets cyclin-dependent kinases and interferes with cell division) and the chemotherapy agent cisplatin.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included hypomagnesemia (low levels of magnesium in the blood) and obstruction of the small intestine. Grade 3 neutropenia and thrombosis were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 16.1 months.
