Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 23 metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer patients who were previously treated with docetaxel-based chemotherapy. The median patient age was 65 years.

Treatment:
Patients were given chemotherapy with satraplatin and the steroid hormone prednisone.

Toxicities:
There was one treatment-related death due to septic shock. Grade 4 thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, and low blood pressure were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 15.5 months.
