Description:

Patients: This phase II study involved 43 patients with advanced or metastatic colorectal carcinoma. The median age was 60, ranging from 33 to 75 years of age. The majority of patients (67.6%) were men. Most patients had surgery treatment previously.

Treatment: Patients were treated with the chemotherapy drugs capecitabine and irinotecan.

Toxicity: Grade 3 diarrhea was reported in 8.1% of patients. Other grade 3 toxicities were neutropenia and anemia, reported in 5.4% and 2.7% of patients, respectively. Other toxicities (grade 1 or 2) were alopecia, nausea or vomiting, and hand-foot syndrome.

Results: The median overall survival was 15.4 months.
