Description:

Patients: This study involved 60 patients with glioblastoma multiforme. The average age of the patients was 57.

Treatment: Treatment consisted of simultaneous chemotherapy and radiotherapy following surgery. The chemotherapy drug was topotecan (Hycamtin).

Toxicity: Two patients died of infectious complications while undergoing therapy. Other toxicities included hematologic (grade 1-3), nausea (grade 1-3), mucositis (grades 2,4), headache (grade1-2), tremor (grade 1-2), consciousness (grades 1-2, 4), and motor functions (grade 1-4).

Results: The median survival was 15 months.
