Description:

Patients: This trial involved 60 patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). There were 41 men and 19 women, and the mean age was 56 years. All patients had surgery prior to treatment.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of radiotherapy and one chemotherapeutic drug: topotecan.

Toxicity: Two patients died of infectious complications while undergoing therapy. Grade 3-4 toxicities included aberrant motor functions, consciousness, mucostitis, and hematological.

Results: The median overall survival was 15 months.
