Description:

Patients: 290 patients with colorectal cancer with metastases confined to the liver were involved in this study. Patients were divided into two groups: an intrahepatic treatment group composed of 145 patients and an intravenous group composed of 145 patients.

Treatment: For the intravenous group the treatment consisted of the administration of intravenous fluorouracil (adrucil) and folinic acid (leucovorin).

Toxicity: Grade 3 or 4 toxicities were rare and included: neutropenia, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, skin rashes, stomatitis, and diarrhea.

Results: Median overall survival was 14.8 months.
