Description:

Patients: This Phase II study involved a total of 175 patients with stage III non-small cell lung cancer. Patients were divided into three groups. Group A contained 62 patients. Group B contained 58 patients. Group C contained 55 patients.

Treatment: Patients in Group B were administered two chemotherapy drugs – cisplatin (platinol) and paclitaxel (taxol), plus chest radiotherapy.

Toxicity: Two patients in Group B died of treatment-related causes (renal failure and infection). Grade 4 toxicities included hematological and vomiting.

Results: Median survival for patients in Group B was 14.8 months.
