Description:

Patients: This study involved 55 patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme.

Treatment: The treatment consisted of two chemotherapy drugs - dacarbazine (DTIC-Dome) and fotemustine and radiation therapy.

Toxicity: The major toxicity was thrombocytopenia (grades 3 and 4). One patient died of septic fever during combined thrombocytopenia and leucopenia (grade 4) after the first dacarbazine and fotemustine administration. Other toxicities included erythordemia and alopecia.

Results: Median survival from time of neuropathologic diagnosis was 14.5 months.
