Description:

Patients:
This phase 2 study involved 33 previously-treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients with a median age of 65 years; 48.5% of the patients were male.

Treatment:
Patients were treated with asparagine-glycine-arginine-tagged human tumor necrosis factor alpha (NGR-hTNF), which is a biological therapy agent that targets tumor blood vessels to cause tumor cell death.

Toxicities:
The most severe toxicities were of grade 4 and included liver failure. Grade 1 and 2 pain, chills, and diarrhea were also reported.

Results:
The median overall survival was 13.1 months.
