Description:

Patients: This Phase II study involved 50 patients (36 men, 14 women, average age 76 years) with metastatic colorectal cancer. While one third of the patients had received adjuvant therapy before the study, none of the patients had been extensively treated. Metastatic sites included liver, lung, and lymph nodes.

Treatment: Treatment consisted of two chemotherapy agents: capecitabine and oxaliplatin.

Toxicity: There was one treatment related death from diarrhea and sepsis. in addition, grade 3-4 toxicities included diarrhea, asthenia, nausea, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia.

Results: The median overall survival was 13.2 months.
